Privacy policy
How Menzync handles your information, in plain language.
Draft policy for a proposal-stage research build. It describes what the running code does today and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and a password hash, held by our authentication provider (Supabase).
- Profile: an optional display name, language, interests you pick, and display preferences.
- Consent receipts: which purposes you switched on or off, and when.
- Saved check-ins — only if you turn on history: the emotion label you confirmed or chose, an optional intensity and context tags, an optional private note you write, and the high-level reading the model offered with the name of the engine that produced it.
Your routine, reminders and optional buddy streak
Routine settings store your chosen time budget, weekly activity goal and optional reminder time. Recommendations use only your saved practice ratings after at least three ratings for a practice; weekly recaps use saved activity with history consent. They do not assess your health.
Reminders appear while the app is open. Browser notifications need your permission. A neutral reminder date and snooze time may be stored on this device; no health information is included. Imported calendar reminders are controlled by your calendar and must be removed there separately.
A buddy connection requires your invitation and the invited account’s explicit acceptance. Each participant shares a chosen name and encouragement-day activity with the other participant. Private notes, feelings, model readings and personal streaks are not shared. Invitations expire after 48 hours; a salted hash binds the invitation to its intended email and is cleared with the invitation secret after acceptance. Menzync sends no invitation email. Pending invitations can be deleted from Buddy streaks.
Either participant can disconnect and delete the connection and its shared encouragement history for both people. These optional shared records and routine settings are separate from personal wellness history; deleting wellness history alone does not disconnect buddies. Account deletion removes your settings and connections, including their shared history. Your export includes your settings, your own encouragements and shared connection metadata.
The offline toolkit caches only its public page, styles, script and app icon. It does not cache account pages or API responses, record private notes, save practice results or increase streaks. Browser-managed caches and calendar imports can remain on a device after account deletion; clear them in that browser or calendar.
What we never store
The text you type into a check-in, any voice recording, and any camera image. Text and audio are analysed in memory on our server and discarded when the response is sent. Camera frames never leave your device: the facial-expression model runs in your browser and only averaged expression scores are sent. Request bodies are not logged.
Why we process it
- Analysing a check-in you submit — on your request, each time.
- Keeping your history — only with your separate history consent.
- We do not use your data for research, model training, advertising or profiling. Those purposes are switched off for everyone and would need a separate, ethics-reviewed opt-in.
Who can see it
Your personal check-ins are restricted to your account by database row-level security. Optional buddy connection metadata and encouragement-day activity are visible to both participants as described above. No university, employer or Menzync team member has a view of individual check-ins. Data is processed by our infrastructure providers (Supabase for the database and authentication, Vercel for hosting, and — when configured — a model service hosted on Hugging Face) under their own terms.
Your rights
- Switch any optional purpose off at any time in Privacy. Switching off history stops new saves.
- Download all your data as JSON, delete single entries, delete all wellness data, or delete your account — all from inside the app.
- Deleting your account removes your profile, consent receipts and every saved record.
Safety
Menzync is not a medical device, diagnosis, treatment or emergency service, and nobody monitors check-ins. If a check-in contains explicit language about self-harm, Menzync shows a support panel. That check runs in memory and its result is not stored.
